FOLLOW UP PRESS RELEASE ON GEOFF STEEL'S TALK
Using a series of stunning photos, maps and diagrams, he demonstrated how nature and man have shaped the landscape between Hay and Kington. He talked of the history of the area, linking us even to the Ice Age and he introduced us to the pioneers of geology discovery, in particular Richard William Banks (1819 – 1891) of Hergest Croft. He also assured the congregation that the future of the area was safe from fracking, much to everyone’s relief.
The many Friends of St. Thomas à Becket and welcome new visitors appreciated an interval of wine and canapés in heated tents outside, where they enjoyed meeting each other.
It was agreed that Dr. Steel’s talk was absolutely outstanding and Mr. Lawrence Banks gave a very warm vote of thanks, which was heartily endorsed by the audience.
